Sales Expectations

We're asking each scout to sell a minimum of $300, or take a $100 buyout.  This, along with annual dues, funds our program for the year.

Take Order

When going door, remember the following tips:

  • Always ask people to support scouting, not if they want to buy popcorn

  • Always wear your uniform

  • Don't go into someone's house

  • Always go with a parent or friend

  • Remember to tell them popcorn will arrive in "early November".  Distribution begins on the 10th

  • Make checks payable to "Pack 677"

Show-n-Sell

Show-n-sell means taking inventory to a local business and selling to people as they walk by.  Here are some important things to remember when doing show-n-sell:

  • To sign up, contact Jonathan Zigman

  • Always wear your uniform

  • If you are the first to set up, arrive about 20 minutes early to set up the table and put out sales items

  • Record EVERY sale on the provided tally sheet.

  • Make sure you hand off between shifts - count the cash box and inventory on hand.

  • Adults will be held responsible for all missing inventory.  Make sure there is a record of the sale and that all inventory is accounted for.

  • Show-n-sell totals will count towards a scout's prize total, just like door-to-door and online sales.

Online Sales

To sign up for online sales, send an email to Brad Wyckhouse.  Make sure to include your scout's name.

The nice thing about online sales is that you can get sales from anywhere in the country.  You don't have to pick up or ship popcorn - it is taken care of for you.  However, it is a bit more expensive than in-person sales.

Sales Incentives

To encourage sales, the following incentives are in place.  Incentives are cumulative, so you get ALL the prizes you qualify for, not just some of them.

  1. Sell $100 in the first week (by Sept 16) and get a $5 McDonald's gift card

  2. Sell $300 (minimum buy) and get to smash a pie in the face of your favorite scout leader

  3. Sell any amount - earn the prizes as specified in the sales flier

  4. Complete our multi-channel sales challenge, and get one of: $15 gift card to 5 Below, $15 gift card to Target, or 1 hour of bounce time at Flying Spider.  To earn thiss, you must do all of the following:

    • Post an online sales video to Youtube and sign up to sell online​

    • Tell the Popcorn Kernel your door-to-door sales pitch

    • Do one show-n-sell sale

    • Spend 3 hours going door to door

  5. Sell $1000 - ​2 movie ticket vouchers to Lego Movie 2 (or another movie)

  6. Sell $1350 - Earn free summer camp (1 Cub scout day camp and an overnight Family camp, OR a 3 day/2 night Webelos camp)

  7. Sell $2400 - Earn a week long camp (applies to 4th and 5th graders only)

  8. Sell $2500 - Pick a prize from the Winner's Circle (iPod Touch, 39" smart TV, drone, etc.)

  9. Last but not least, camper savings! 10% of each scout's gross sales will go into a personal account that they can use to pay for camp fees, camping equipment, or similar expenses.
